The French and Indian War was a war over claim of land, which lasted from 1754-1763. First, Great Britain and France had a dispute over the claim of the confluence of the Allegheny and Monongahela rivers. This dispute took place in the year 1754. Many battles took place after, with the first t Fort Necessity. A battle where many were killed in combat happened at Fort Duquesne. The war ended when the Treaty of Paris was signed. The treaty gave Britain claim to almost all French Canadian land and present day Florida. In the end, the dispute was able to be settled. Unfortunately, many had to perish in order for the end of the war to come.

Washington's defeat – The start of the French and Indian War
1755
General Edward Braddock led troops to Fort Duquesne. Many were killed. Survivors led to safety by George Washington.
1756
Merquis took charge of French forces in North America. Capured Fort Oswego.
1757
French capture Fort William Henry.
1758
July- French capture Fort Ticonderoga. English capture Louisberg.
August- English capture Fort Frontier.
1759
July- English capture Fort Niagra. French abandon Fort Ticonderoga
